A financial Durable Power of Attorney is a document that allows you to appoint someone to take care of your finances and other legal matters if you are disabled and unable to manage these matters yourself, such as:
  • Writing checks
  • Transacting with your bank
  • Selling your home
  • Paying your utilities
  • Hiring an attorney on your behalf
  • and many other matters
Your spouse does not innately have full authority to manage your finances without having been appointed through a Power of Attorney.
